•	SASCOM Boerewors Competition Friday, 20 November 2009 So, who will it be this year? Qatar's Boerewors Champion for 2009/2010 is soon to be crowned THE CHALLENGERS FOR THIS YEAR ARE: • Die Sexy Bobbejane • Kaalvuis • Joe Penning & Co • Glenn & Jacques • Gary & Corne Herman Follow the directions and be at our place on Friday, 20 November 2009 from 2-4:30pm. Please bring your own chairs and liquid refreshments and join in the fun. There is a pool for the braver ones among us as well as a jungle gym for the kids. Boerewors rolls will be for sale at QR10 each. If you’re lucky you may even be able to buy a kilo or 2 of some good SA boerewors to take home and cook at your leisure. SO, come and support your fellow countrymen and enjoy a few hours of fun and a “lekker boerewors” roll… or 2! PLEASE NOTE The Christmas Time for the kids will commence at 4:30pm. We will only be able to accommodate RSVP’ed kids for this event, so please take the time to RSVP with your child’s name, gender and age if you would like them to attend, as per the details below or send an e-mail to welgemoeds@qatar.net.qa. •	SASCOM Christmas Time Friday, 20 November 2009 Time obviously flies when you’re having fun, cause it's that time of year again... …and fun’s exactly what we plan on having whilst celebrating the Birth of Jesus together this year on Friday, 20 November 2009 at Saha 92, Villa #7, New Daphna (click here for directions) at around16:30 (just after the Boerewors Champions for 2009 have been crowned). We’ll be making something creative for Christmas, whilst munching on the goodies in our Christmas stockings. We’ve written SANTA a letter and he may well be paying us a quick visit (squeezing us into his busy schedule around 17:15). All parents should provide a small gift for each of your children to the value of no more than QR50 please. Gifts can be dropped off prior to the event at the same location or brought along and discretely passed on to one of the SASCOM committee members present. The Christmas stockings will be QR15 each. It is VERY important to RSVP for this one as we would sincerely regret disappointing ANY kids on this joyous occasion. •	Inland Sea Trip - Friday, 30 October 2009 Short notice, we know! But... With the weather cooling down rapidly now here in Doha, we thought it would be great to do an Inland Sea Trip sooner rather than later. If we forfeit this chance, we will only be able to do it again sometime in March next year and that's a very long wait... So, please join us on Friday, 30 October 2009 for lovely day at the Inland Sea. The convoy will depart from Sealine Beach Resort in Mesaieed (just after the R/A in front of the entrance on the right hand side of the road) at 9:00am sharp. Please arrive early to attend the briefing as to the do's and don'ts of driving in the desert. You need to bring: - Cozzies and towels - Some shade (cazebo's or umbrellas) - Camping chairs - Sunscreen - Lunch (anything goes, from hammies to samies to braaivleis) - A lot to drink 4x4 vehicles are required for this trip. If you would like to go along, but do not have a 4x4, please contact us. We will try our best to accommodate you. Saturday, 30 May 2009 at The petrol station just after the Golf Club R/A on your way to Al Khor at 8:30 sharp from where Alex and his crew will lead the convoy to Fuwairit. Please bring along the following: - Your cozzies, towels, hats and sunscreen - Chairs - Whatever you want to have for brunch (burgers, samies, hotdogs, etc) - Some snacks - Gazebo, umbrella, etc for some shade - Lots to drink including water It would be much appreciated if you could bring along some beach toys/games e.g. volley ball nets & balls, frizbees, etc that we can all play together... 	Answer: Buying a boat and/or quad bikes are the most sought after activities. People enjoy the outdoors, sand and sea. Clubbing is not big but there is a little of that. Camping, shopping and that is about it. Of course traveling, because everything is close by and the airlines often offer promotions to take advantage of.
